64-bit Windows 8, the current edition of Microsoft Office, Adobe CS6 applications and more. Oddly enough, I can develop Windows 8 desktop and tablet apps with them; I can even develop Android and BlackBerry apps. I just can't use them to develop Windows Phone apps. And I'm not the only one in this boat .

Beside my HP Touchsmart is this 20″ iMac that's even older — it's from mid-2007 and sports a Core 2 Duo T7300 processor. …

…fun of the iPhone for not having Flash. Kevin Lynch comes to Apple from Adobe to be the new " VP of Technology". I'm not sure what a VP of Technology does, but given his track record at Adobe, I am assuming he'll be involved in beefing up Apple's cloud services in more technical ways than Eddy Cue already does. The general consensus on the hire though is that it stinks . Convincing Apple shareholders, users, and enthusiasts that the guy who spent …

Any product that requires users to remember hotkeys such as CMD-SHIFT-D (i'm looking at you, Adobe Digital Editions) does not provide a good user experience. While there are limited other 'off the shelf' products …

I'm Patrick McKenzie (occasionally better known as patio11). When I started my business six years ago, I was greatly inspired by a few other folks who published the minutiae of their software businesses, particularly actual sales and expenses numbers. I resolved to do it for Bingo Card Creator, my (first) software business, and then just kept up the habit. I traditionally post the year's numbers and my reflections on what worked and what didn't right before Christmas: see years …

The software juggernaut knew that they needed to make their content accessible across multiple devices. And despite the challenges they saw in responsive design, they couldn't deny that it was the solution they needed to meet the needs of their mobile users.

ReadWrite

More than a few tech blogs redesigned their sites to work on any device. One of our favorite redesigns was ReadWrite. We liked it so much that we did an extensive breakdown of the site, …

…selling. Which came in handy when One Kings Lane recruited the former Adobe exec to take the reins of the company.

Doug studied the online home furnishing retailer closely before taking the job, using the product to make purchases. He even delved into how the company handled customer service. That research came in handy when he actually took charge in 2010. Since then, he's spearheaded the company from $ 25 million in yearly sales to $ 200 million.

He's even snagged top …

You can use it to create applications that take on a lot of the look and fee of native ones — such as buttons, form elements, sliders, headings, maps, and images. To see what I mean, take a look at this simple application mockup that I created in five minutes with their drag and drop builder .

Thanks to jQuery's long history, there's extensive documentation, …

Photoshop CS6 : When Adobe switched to its Creative Cloud pricing, I decided to jump back on the Adobe bandwagon. I don't really have a system for when I use Acorn and when I use Photoshop. It usually just ends up depending on what I decide to type into Launchbar on a given day.

Rdio : Last year I made my transition away from a local iTunes music library in favor of iTunes Match and Spotify. This year, I am 100% on Rdio. I no longer have any music …
