I like using recursive macros because the loop will be exited if it fails to execute on a line. This improves the speed of making changes without risking applying it incorrectly throughout the file, provided you write your macros carefully.

The NSA is permanently parked outside of Knuth's house, hoping that he might help them crack public key encryption. Sometime last year, Knuth gave them a copy of "The Art of Computer Programming", but refused to tell them which page the algorithm was on.

Knuth taught a group of kids how to use their fingers as abacuses. …

With a background in the web and Ruby communities, Mattt thinks programming is as much a profession as it is a passion, so developing open …

…wasn't beautiful enough to be displayed in the Museum of Modern Art? Ugly growth, as long as you are growing, can be celebrated as a bootstrapper.

Channels can be smaller

Since escape velocity for a bootstrapper might mean having a few thousand customers, not a million customers, then you can focus on growth channels that have a much lower ceiling. For instance, if you discover that buying tweets from BuySellAds.com has a positive ROI, then you can keep buying tweets and adding …

Lesson #2: Work with Great People

The team that I worked with were really great people. In some ways, these colleagues saw things in me that I didn't even see in myself.

It had a huge effect on my expectations for the rest of my career, that my first adult work experience was with people who had mutual respect for each other, where we learned things from each other, where we created together. …
