Seven cities down, one to go. This year has been our biggest TechDays tour, spanning the cities of Vancouver , Edmonton , Toronto , Halifax , Ottawa , Montreal , Winnipeg and this week, Calgary . Among other things, it's the city that Developer Evangelist John Bristowe calls home.

All of us are looking forward to seeing everyone there, especially Damir !

And so begins the post-mortem! Here are Damir, Rick and Fred, each listing what worked, what didn't and what could be improved. We do this at the end of each TechDays in each city, because if you're not getting the most out of TechDays, we're not getting the most out of TechDays either.

Here's Jenna throwing in her two cents:

With TechDays Winnipeg wrapped up, we've got one city left: Calgary, which we're visiting next week. TechDays Calgary takes …

…road's a little different these days thanks to mobile computing and communications technology. Damir's at the wheel, enjoying stand-up comedy on satellite radio, while I'm riding shotgun, with my laptop linked to the internet via a Rogers HSPA+ "Rocket Stick" and my Windows Phone 7 displaying our current position on Highway 401.

All this time on the road got me thinking: if you're planning on writing Windows Phone 7 apps but are stuck for app ideas, …

Here's Damir doing his lunch demo:

In case you were wondering who picked the sessions for the developer tracks - Developing for Three Screens and the Cloud and Optimizing the Development Process - it was me, in consultation with a number of prominent developers in the .NET community. One of my very first picks was Branching and Merging Practices. It's a topic covered fairly often in the open source world, but I feel it needs more discussion in the .NET world. Tommy Lum…

And now a special TechDays announcement from Damir, the Big Kahuna of our upcoming cross-Canada conference...

TechDays 2010 is getting closer with Vancouver conference just a few weeks away. As such the team has been hard to make this an impactful event that will allow you to grow your skills and support you in areas important to your job and career.

Damir flew back to Vancouver to do an academic presentation at Douglas College , while I stayed in Victoria to do an academic presentation at Camosun College's Interurban campus. I didn't get a picture of my academic audience, but did get a shot of this ad for Camosun later that night in downtown Victoria:

The academic presentations are part of the EnergizeIT tour - we do them at colleges close to the place where we're doing the main EnergizeIT sessions. …

PowerPoint in this one until the very end. Instead, the EnergizeIT session has me and Damir telling a story about starting our own online insurance company and building the applications and infrastructure right in front of the audience. It's all storytelling, live demos, actual working code and data, and of course, jokes (including me telling Damir to "Dance, server monkey, dance!").

The feedback we got from the audience was great. Many said that they loved watching an all-demo …
