Matt Wensing from Stormpulse (disclaimer: I'm an investor, long story below) generously took some time off of managing the nation's severe weather risks to appear on our podcast. ( Keith Perhac couldn't be with us when we taped this, as he was celebrating the birth of his second daughter.) It's been about six months since our last episode but I think this probably makes up for it, as it's a cracker of an episode.

The links go marching two by two...

Meet UpShot, Screenshot Sharing via Dropbox on OS X - Evernote certainly encouraged a lot of activity in this area when they screwed up Skitch.

Bug Triage - How exposed are you? - And for that matter, do you even bother to triage your bugs?

Listango - Tool for organizing your own bookmarks online. It's refreshing to find one that's explicitly non-social.

And a happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

Zuck - Gem to use Facebook's ads API.

Cramp - Asynchronous Ruby web application framework built on top of EventMachine.

…keep them up to date as the landscape continually changes. While some companies do it really well ( Evernote and Wunderlist for example), it's definitely a challenge and one not to be taken lightly.

Leigh Williamson, an IBM distinguished engineer, raises another point you should consider. While you may believe that a particular platform is the one to focus on, you may not have a choice . Your customers may be using two or more platforms equally. If that's the …

Evernote with a nicely detailed note on a recent outage . A kernel panic happened while upgrading two new "shard" servers with 3x as much RAM, SSDs instead of 15krpm disks, bonded networking, and an updated kernel. They had to revert and shite loves to happen when other shite happens.

Heroku with their postmortem on what happened when AWS went down. They lost 30% of their instances across 3 AZs in the US-East region. Rich detail on the impact of the …

Creating a new note in Evernote

Sending a tweet

Send an SMS message

Tasks let you use data from the triggers (ie the subject line in an email) in your task. So you could, for example, use the subject of an email to populate the subject of your note in Evernote.

Recipes are pre-made combinations of the other items, created either by the team at ifttt, by other users, or yourself. There are a lot of them, and chances are you will find a lot of them that you can put to use immediately. …
