…wanted to do everything the quote/unquote "right way." We took a look when we started out at Google Maps, and Google Maps really did not cut it for us because we wanted to create a weather map. While Google Maps is a fantastic map for everything from bike tours to self‑driving cars and all that stuff, it really isn't the best cartography for displaying the weather. That left us with two choices. Either compromise on the initial vision, which we were just starting out, so why …
In the Google Maps app there is an " Update Route" button that lets me change directions if I happen to make a wrong turn or am not paying much attention and get sidetracked.

…developers to embed interactive maps in their apps that include many of the key map features of the Google Maps for Android app. Developers now have access to maps that tilt and rotate (vector-based 3D!), show interior floor plans, support animated camera positioning, and that make it dead simple to overlay custom content. During the breakout session, Paul will walk developers through the process of getting started with the Google Maps Android API v2, and he'll share some tips and tricks …

Google Maps for iOS has already made it to my homescreen. Apple's Maps is tucked away in a folder called " Apple's stuff." When Apple switched out Google's map app for their own, they nearly tied Google's previous navigation. Nearly, because for one, the directions were off on many occasions. So all Google had to do to beat Apple was outdo its last app. And isn't that the goal with any new release? TL;DR: Google Maps beats Apple in design, …

…App Store. Then, there's Apple's new Maps app that ousted Google Maps from iOS 6. Users have been feeling a little lost in space with the new maps, forcing CEO Tim Cook to apologize in a public letter . But the whole debacle over the maps is a good reminder that there's a level of risk involved in any product.
Did Apple make a wrong turn? Maybe, but only time will tell if they did. Products, especially something as broad and expansive as a map, can occasionally …
