The recently-held Enterprise Connect Orlando 2014 conference featured a session titled Assessing the Legal Issues Around BYOD , which looked at the sort of legal exposure that companies with BYOD programs could face . Among the risks and potential liabilities covered in the session were:

Lost or stolen devices. The top concern in InformationWeek's 2013 State of Mobile Security Survey and IT directors everywhere, a misplaced smartphone or tablet …

…the second year the event was independently organized by MySQL AB. It took place in Orlando, Florida at the Peabody hotel. It was a fun place to visit though it attracted a smaller crowd and this is why I think the conference never left California again afterward. MySQL Cluster and MySQL Press were announced during this event; " High Performance MySQL" 1st edition written by …

With all the fuss about Apple's WWDC , which starts today, and Google I/O at the end of the month, Microsoft's big TechEd North America conference , which is aimed at both developers and sysadmin (or IT Pros, in Microsoft parlance), seems to have faded into the background. TechEd, being based in the Eastern time zone (it's in Orlando this year), has been in full swing for a few hours already, and not a single report has found its way to …

…didn't exist before, and even attended a couple great concerts - Beach House in Orlando, and a reunion show for a local band I used to look up to and admire, Spiller.

We're here for a few more days, and I'm excited to get back to Portland, be in my own space, see Portland friends, start playing music again, be closer to work colleagues, and generally enjoy all that Portland has to offer. So yeah, travel works. Energy renewed.

I have more to say, but lets not blow it …

Jim Remsik: I've attended conferences from Scotland to Phoenix and Orlando to Seattle. Everywhere I go I wind up talking with folks and thinking they would love Madison if they ever had a reason to visit. Jen, my wife and I talked it over, and we decided to bootstrap and organize the conference from Jacksonville, FL where we lived at the time. Since then the details of the conference have cemented and we relocated back to Madison full-time.

Madison gets associated with …
