I was playing around with an interface experiment and wanted to convert arbitrary strings into hex codes for displaying colours in a webpage. I just ported the Stack Overflow solution to , now hosted on : str_2_hex.rb . Might be useful to someone else.code from this
A lot has happened since my first article on the Stack Overflow Architecture . Contrary to the theme of that last article, which lavished attention on 's dedication to a scale-up strategy, Stack Overflow has both grown up and out in the last few years.

I've written a couple of small rake tasks that have been working quite well for me. The first is the "rake deploy" task. So, now I use "rake deploy" instead of "git push heroku master" when I want to deploy to. This caches my assets, pushed to github, deploys to heroku, and notifies hoptoad about the deploy.
