Then I would like in the tests to do the following (using Mocha) : test "bar" do Model . any_instance . expects (: foo ). returns ( "bar" ) get : bar end

Is this possible somehow, or do you have in mind any other way to get this functionality???

I was playing around with an interface experiment and wanted to convert arbitrary strings into hex codes for displaying colours in a webpage. I just ported the JS code from this Stack Overflow solution to Ruby, now hosted on Github: str_2_hex.rb . Might be useful to someone else.

A lot has happened since my first article on the Stack Overflow Architecture . Contrary to the theme of that last article, which lavished attention on Stack Overflow's dedication to a scale-up strategy, Stack Overflow has both grown up and out in the last few years.

Stack Overflow has grown up by more then doubling in size to over 16 million users and multiplying its number of page views nearly 6 times to 95 million page views a month.

…much came up, so I did a bit of Googling and came across this Stack Overflow page that pointed me in the right direction.

I've written a couple of small rake tasks that have been working quite well for me. The first is the "rake deploy" task. So, now I use "rake deploy" instead of "git push heroku master" when I want to deploy to Heroku. This caches my assets, pushed to github, deploys to heroku, and notifies hoptoad about the deploy.
