If you're a technologist and you're not living under a rock, you've heard about Heartbleed , which is a Severity: Apocalyptic bug in the extraordinarily widely deployed OpenSSL software. Heartbleed lets anyone capable of finding a command line read encryption keys, passwords, and other private data out of affected systems. If you don't remember addressing this in the last 48 hours close this window immediately and get to work .

Tarsnap is the world's best secure online backup service. It's run by Colin Percival, Security Officer Emeritus at FreeBSD, a truly gifted cryptographer and programmer. I use it extensively in my company, recommend it to clients doing Serious Business (TM) all the time, and love seeing it successful.

It's because I am such a fan of Tarsnap and Colin that it frustrates me to death . Colin is not a great engineer who is bad at business and thus compromising …

If you're using the In-Touch Insight extension and do not need custom transaction names, then you can disable that extension. If you do need custom transaction names, just leave it enabled and we'll do the right thing. (Note: you'll see a log message warning you of the overlapping implementations.)

We'd love to hear from you about …

So how do you start a Lean Startup practice where you actually work? Patrick, Eric, and Brant all talked, in response to audience questions, about the importance of individual actors within corporations deciding to, as Patrick put it, "be subversive."

Brant: Changing the culture is what's needed and it's hard and it takes time. And so I think if you're a person inside of an organization that is ready for this type of stuff, the first thing you should do is …

Patrick: I share Brant's emphasis on leadership, but I think you gotta try the sandwich approach -- grassroots from the bottom and an aggressive leader from the top. Ideally, this kind of organizational change covers the entire spectrum of the business.

Patrick : only for some apps

Drogus : for interactive apps, not for static apps that need to be indexed by Google

Andrzej : for all the apps

Adam : we need better tools on the backend in order to have a better developer experience

Piotr : Andrzej, would you write wikipedia as a SPA?

Andrzej : Yes.

Adam : What about SEO?

Andrzej : It's a myth that SPAs are not indexable. Google has an official document for that. It is additional work.

Patrick : …

The Lean Entrepreneur is Patrick's latest book, co-authored with Brant Cooper.

The book

The Lean Entrepreneur is useful whether you're seasoned in lean thinking or you've never heard of it.

There are great examples from real startups including Kissmetrics, Sharethrough, Hubspot, 500 Startups, TaskRabbit , and the book explains all the key terms, techniques and strategies you should know: life cycle adoption curve, pivot, vanity metric, product-market fit, …

Patrick suggested that Apple buy Twitter to beef up their cloud services offering, but I fail to see how an acqui-hire of the company that made something called a "Fail whale" part of pop-culture lexicon is going to offer much of an improvement. For a company with billions of dollars in cash, they should be able to back up a few proverbial dumptrucks of money to the most talented web and online services people in the world.

If I didn't make my living on iOS, I'd be giving …
